Poem

O life, what a wonderful experience you are.

You begin as a child,
looking around, cherishing moments,
enjoying little things,
getting excited by every wonder around you,
far away from the shadows of darkness,
though they too are waiting,
ready to become your companions.

Inch by inch,
you drift into the river of the world,
flowing wherever it chooses to flow.
And the waves,
oh, what waves they are.
They split your soul,
tear you down,
and strip away the image of the world
you once carried in your mind.

Sometimes it feels
like a nail driven into the heart,
but there you are,
still breathing,
still alive.

O life,
what a wonderful experience you are.

And when you look back
at that child,
that innocent child,
you miss him, I know.
You want to hold him,
to hug him tightly,
for all that he is about to see.

For life is chaos,
and you are merely an experience
passing through the wild.

One day, you too will be gone,
like a story closed inside a book.
People before you came
in the same boat,
on the very same route.
People after you will come too,
in the same boat,
on the very same route.

Life is only an experience
we took too seriously.

Nothing has lasted.
Nothing will.

O life,
O life,
what a wonderful experience you are.
