What Do You Seek?
Wandering wide through the ocean of sand,
A boy moved alone, with dreams so grand.
Lost from the arms that once held tight,
He wept for warmth, for a glimpse of light.
Tears like stars on his dusty face,
He walked ahead in that endless place.
Then came a voice, so gentle and small,
An insect watching, having seen it all.
“What do you seek, my friend so dear?”
“My parents,” he cried, “I want them near.”
“But do you seek them or what they gave?
The comfort, the love, the way they’d save?”
“Do you long for them, as people alone,
Or the feeling of safety, of being known?”
The boy stood still, his breath held tight,
Struck by a question that felt so right.
And as he walked, the search began anew,
Not just for faces he once knew,
But for the truth behind his pain,
For what was lost, and what remained.
Oh life, you are a winding song,
With strangers near and loved ones gone.
Through deserts deep and questions wide,
We all seek more than what we cried.
