Beyond the Flowers

To understand someone, we must love more than the version of them that blooms beautifully before us.

Perhaps you were never meant to be fully understood. Perhaps closeness only allows another person to encounter an essence of you, while parts of your inner world remain beyond their reach.

You cannot truly see someone from the inside with your eyes alone. To know them, you would have to walk in their shoes, carry their suffering, share their happiness, and mourn their losses. Only then could you begin to understand the life beneath what is visible.

You may have loved their flowers while they were blooming. But when winter arrives and the blossoms disappear, you say you no longer understand them. Perhaps that is because you loved only the flowers—not the branches, the stem, or the roots hidden beneath the soil.
